SUMMARY:Stone Cold Hustle
DESCRIPTION:Nothing but the heaviest funk grooves for the singular purpose of bringing people together and making them dance\n\nFormed on the frontline of Bristol’s renowned jam scene\, Stone Cold Hustle are emerging as one of the UK’s most dynamic and engaging funk bands. They play nothing but the heaviest funk grooves for the singular purpose of bringing people together and making them dance. \nWhether tearing up the Peace stage at Glastonbury Festival\, packing out a sweaty bar in the heart of the city\, or sharing bills with funk legend Fred Wesley\, Stone Cold Hustle perform every gig like it’s their last. Rooted in classic funk\, their sound lands between bands like Lettuce\, Vulfpeck\, The New Mastersounds\, and The Greyboy Allstars and they’ve already graced the stage at such well-respected London establishments as South London Soul Train and Pizza Express Jazz Club\, Soho. \nThe band features Andrew Hayes (sax)\, Jacob Houghton* (guitar)\, Martin Mexme (guitar)\, Max Killing (bass)\, Jim Davies (congas) and Cam Macdougall* (drums). \n*You may remember Jacob and Cam from King Heron\, who played for us in November 2024. Cam has also appeared with Slinky Machine\, in March the same year. \n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\nAdmission for this event is complimentary for Music Spoken Here Club Members. \nNon-members are welcome – just show up and pay £16 cash or card on the door. \nYou can find out more about our admission and membership options at A New Approach

SUMMARY:Ruby Rushton
DESCRIPTION:One of the most forward-thinking bands to emerge from London’s thriving scene\nUnderground UK jazz pioneers\, Ruby Rushton\, are one of the leading and most forward-thinking bands to emerge from London’s thriving scene. The band are the key component and inspiration for record label 22a\, one of the UK’s most important and widely respected independent labels. SUMMARY:Mali Sheard ft. Rob Luft
DESCRIPTION:“A bright new light on the British Jazz scene” – Nikki Yeoh\, Jazz FM\n\nFollowing her Worcester debut with Ankora in February 2026\, saxophonist and composer Mali Sheard returns to the Marr’s Bar with her own quintet\, along with special guest\, Parliamentary Jazz Award winning instrumentalist of the year Rob Luft. \nThe Royal Academy of Music graduate and Tomorrow’s Warriors alumna released her debut album ‘Hayfever’ in September\, described by Jazzwise Magazine as “refined and pensive. A shimmering glimpse into the potential of an excellent up-and-coming musician.” Angus Batey (UK Jazz News) found it “a warm\, enveloping and involving listen: like being invited to sit down and join in a series of eclectic conversations among a group of long-term friends” and our own resident journalist Ian Mann (The Jazz Mann) declared it “An exceptionally mature debut\, and with the prospect of more top-quality music to come.” \nHer quintet\, featuring fellow Ankoran Keira Chakraborty (flute)\, Ky Osborne (keys)\, George Balmont (bass) and Luke McCarthy (drums) toured the UK supported by Tomorrow’s Warriors in Autumn 2026\, playing On The Corner (London)\, The Bear Club (Luton)\, The Vortex (London)\, St Georges (Bristol)\, The Goods Shed (Stroud) and finishing off at Crazy Coqs on the EFG London Jazz Festival programme for the second year. \nThis performance in Worcester will be extra special as Mali’s regular quintet will be joined by special guest guitarist Rob Luft\, who appeared on three of the album tracks. This will be Rob’s third appearance on our programme. \n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\nAdmission for this event is complimentary for Music Spoken Here Club Members. \nNon-members are welcome – just show up and pay £20 cash or card on the door. \nYou can find out more about our admission and membership options at A New Approach
