This gig was in association with the Jazz Central Mentoring Scheme, organised by Jazz Midlands and Arnie Somogyi. The scheme enabled several young Birmingham musicians to develop a project throughout the year with a mentor. The projects were then performed across a three-day event at 1000 Trades in Birmingham. Each project was then performed at different venues throughout the West Midlands hosted by other promoters in the Jazz Midlands network. Dan Lockheart performed his “Roots to Leaves” project at The Marr’s Bar, with his mentor Alex Hitchcock in the quintet.
