Hailing from Oxford and now based in Cardiff, pianist, composer and educator Eddie Gripper released his debut album “Home” on the prestigious Ubuntu Records label in March 2023. Delightfully minimalist improvisation brings to life the stories behind each of his thoughtful compositions. He has worked as a performer, promoter and producer alongside top musicians on the UK jazz scene including Huw Warren, Iain Ballamy, Laura Hurd, Alex Merritt, Yuri Golubev, Eric Ford, Kevin Glasgow and John Parricelli – quite a CV for such a young man.
“A remarkably mature-sounding trio album from a pianist who is still only 22….Richly atmospheric” – London Jazz News
“In its maturity of approach and deftness of execution, Home is a significant achievement by any standards” – Jazzwise Magazine
“Gripper is a multi-faceted writer and his compositions are full of delightful and unexpected twists and turns” – The Jazz Mann
Eddie’s trio is completed with Ursula Harrison on bass and Patrick Barrett-Donlon on drums.
